I really don't know when I started fishing but I know it was before my third birthday.  My dad made a photo of me with a Catfish I caught on the Coosa River in Alabama.  It was on a cane pole and the fish was longer than my leg. No fish story, I was real small.
Fishing has always been an important part of my life. My dad was a firm believer of having me on the water and in the woods. It was a way of life at our house. I am proud he raised me that way. It taught me a lot.
It was on a Sunday in 1959 and we were just getting home from church and I turned the TV on and the American Sportsman was on. Curt Gowdy was the host and there were these two guys fishing with Fly Rods. I had never seen that before.  All I knew was I wanted to try it. I was fascinated with how they cast the line. I saw it as art. These guys were Lee Wulff and Joe Brooks, both legendary anglers. From that point on I knew I was hooked. Not only did I want to fly fish I wanted to let others enjoy the sport through me. I wanted to learn how myself, teach others, and become a guide. Fly Fishing has taken me on a journey I will always be always be thankful for.
I have been blessed to fish in so many places for Trout its hard to relate. The Grand Canyon, is the most breathtaking place. One word, AWSOME! Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, California,  Nevada, North Carolina, and my beloved Tennessee. All of these places have their own special beauty. "Trout just don't live in ugly places."
I have been guiding the tailwaters of East Tennessee for the last 19 years. We are so blessed to have the Watauga and South Holston Rives here in our backyard. I also guide on the Caney Fork near Gordonsville TN.  All of these are great fisheries.
I am a believer in passing our sport down to the next generation.  I have Eight grandkids and have had all but two of them on the water.
I am a Christian first, guide secound. Matthew 4:18-20 tells us Jesus chose fishermen for His first four disciples. Christ really did have a sense of humor.
If you are thinking of learning or even taking a guided trip I would be more than honored to assist you. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
I am not only a guide but I have been a commercial fly tyer for over 25 years and in the past an avid rod builder.

God bless

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to uno even one life has breathed easier because you have lived."
This is to have succeeded.
